Frequently asked questions

Where do my photos go?

Nowhere. Misty Faces runs entirely on your iPhone. No photo, no metadata, and no detection result ever leaves your device.

A face wasn’t detected. What can I do?

Tap the “Add a zone” button in the toolbar and draw a rectangle around the face you want to blur. You can do this for as many extra zones as you need.

Misty Faces detected a face that isn’t one. How do I remove it?

Tap the false detection, then tap the trash icon in the bottom sheet to delete it.

Can I adjust the strength of the blur per face?

Yes. Tap a face to open its settings, then drag the intensity slider. You can also toggle the blur off if you want to leave a particular face visible.

Does Misty Faces remove location data when I share?

It can. When exporting, you choose what to keep: all metadata, location stripped only, or all metadata stripped. Your last choice is remembered for next time.

How does unlocking unlimited blurring work?

Your first blur is free. After that, a single one-time in-app purchase unlocks unlimited use for good — there is no subscription. The purchase is handled entirely by Apple, and you can restore it on any device signed in with the same Apple Account.

I bought unlimited use but it’s locked on a new device. What do I do?

Open Misty Faces, go to the unlock screen, and tap “Restore purchase”. Apple will restore your one-time purchase as long as you’re signed in with the same Apple Account you bought it with.

Why does the app ask for camera and photo library permissions?

Camera access is needed if you want to take a photo directly inside Misty Faces. Photo library write access is needed only to save your edited photo back to your album. Neither permission is used for anything else.

What iOS version is required?

iOS 17 or later. Misty Faces uses the latest on-device frameworks for face detection and image processing.
